Communications

**If you have a real emergency, call 911 or step into the entryway to communicate with an officer using the intercom**

Dispatchers at the Saline County Law Enforcement Center answer 911 calls from throughout Saline County. From here, deputy sheriffs, ambulance personnel, fire fighters and other emergency workers are dispatched.

Dispatchers are on duty 24/7 365 days a year. They handle thousands of calls per month on average. Calls range from urgent requests for help to routine questions about the jail and Sheriff’s Office.

Computers and modern technology assist the dispatchers in getting help to people as quickly and efficiently as possible, which can mean the difference between life and death for individuals during an emergency.

Dispatchers also handle radio communications with deputies as they conduct traffic stops, respond to calls for service or simply request information. The county radio system provides fast and secure communications for law enforcement personnel in the field.

AlertSense

AlertSense is the system the Saline County Sheriff’s Office uses to notify the public of emergency alerts and notifications. You will need to sign up to receive notification on your cell phone, e-mail or mobile device. In addition to receiving information on your wireless device, you may also receive notification on your land telephone line (if you have one) depending on the type of incident or event.

When signing up, you can receive alerts from the Saline County Sheriff’s Office Personnel notifying you of a potentially dangerous situation or other crimes occurring that may affect you. These alerts will provide detailed approved information and when needed, provide instructions to you.

AlertSense also receives direct information from the National Weather Service. When your location is in potentially severe weather, you can receive notifications on your mobile device.

AlertSense also provides a free app service, which can be found on Apple or Android app store by searching AlertSense myAlerts. You are given the option to pick which notifications you want to receive.
